This is anything and everything that you spend money on during a month. Eating out or take away, public transport, toiletries, tobacco, alcohol, and the list goes on.
TASK: Try keeping a spending diary for a month so you can see where your money is going on a day-to-day basis. If you identify areas where you're overspending, ask yourself if that spending is necessary and look for ways to cut back.
There are lots of free apps out there that you could use to keep things simple.
Don't forget – be honest with yourself and try to include everything you spend. Whether it's an impulse buy when you're out shopping, a regular mid-afternoon coffee, or a takeaway because you didn't feel like cooking. Spending in this way can seem small at the time but it can all soon add up.
